With beautiful and unique character designs, this was the first thing that drew into this series. At my first impression of the first episode, it seems like a very lighthearted and happy go lucky series, because of the vibrant colors and cheerful, spunky music. However, as the story progresses, it becomes an even deeper and dramatic story that will have you sucked in for good. XD The unique storyline by Arina Tanemura has all sorts of plot twists and surprises that you wouldn't expect in shoujo anime. It's rare that you'll have a very young main character suffering such an illness and trying to achieve something at the same time. Once you get into the story, you will easily connect and fall in love with these lovable characters. You'll experience what they go through and grow with them as you keep watching, so the character development is also well done. Even the "secondary" characters will feel like main characters, because of how well Tanemura handles them. You only wished the series was longer so they could show more of some of these characters. XD
The music was not exactly of my taste in the beginning, but it gets better and better as the series progresses and towards the middle end of the series comes a beautiful song called, "Eternal Snow." This song expresses so much of Mitsuki's feelings that it almost makes me want to cry whenever I hear it. o_o I think this will always be my favorite from the series, because it never fails to move me. "Eternal snow" also occurs very often throughout the end of the story (even as a melody in her music box XD), because it connects and holds meaning to the storyline as well. I think the beauty of the music, lyrics and story can reach viewers of any age despite how "shoujo" this anime may appear to most people. You'll feel all kinds of emotions with this anime that not all anime can offer all in one package. Because it's rare to come across such a shoujo anime as this, this series will always be a personal favorite of mine, and it also could be yours too! ^_^
My Final Opinion:
With a very unique storyline, wonderful characters, comedy, drama, romance, and supernatural themes, this series can appeal to a wide audience. Definitely worth checking out and highly recommended.
