This is where anime characters are officially identical twins by birth and blood, instead of just looking alike. ^^ This page will explore their similarities as a pair and differences as an individual for most of the well-known or lesser known twins in anime. ^^
Note: I did some research on these twins beforehand, but if you catch any mistakes, then please let me know. I will try to update the information as I find out more details about them. ^^

Amiboshi (right) and Suboshi (left) (Fushigi Yugi)
These two brothers are so spiritually connected that they can communicate to each other by writing messages on their bodies and even sense what the other is feeling or if another is going through distress or loss. They are very protective of each other due to their childhood of orphanage, when they depended on each other for survival.

These very identical twins are very hard to tell apart, especially when they were younger. They even talk in unison a lot of times, so that just adds to the confusion. XD However these two actually have different voice actors, so it's easier to identify them. Neil and Lyle Dylandy -a.k.a. Lockon Stratos- (Gundam 00)
SPOILER!!!: This is the only scene these two are seen in the same shot (Neil is the one in the distance, while Lyle is watching him from behind the tree). After this, they have never appeared at the same time again, however, both use the code name 'Lockon Stratos.' After Neil's death, his brother Lyle takes his place as the next Lockon.
![]() Neil (Lockon I) |
![]() Lyle (Lockon II) |
|
|---|---|---|
| Personality | Appearing in Season 1, Neil was given the codename Lockon Stratos when he was recruited into Celestial Being. He is easy going, kind and considerate of the people around him as well as playing a big brother role to the other pilots. He's usually cool and collected and rarely gets angry, but he still holds a deep grudge towards the terrorists who were responsible for the violent death of his family. When dealing with missions or with people relating to terrorism, it affects his judgement as he's blinded by his emotions. | Appearing in Season 2 (with the exeception of a brief appearance in Season 1 -as pictured above-), Lyle is easy going and friendly like his brother as well as having a strong sense of justice and wanting to make real difference in the world, however, he isn't one to hold grudges or brood over the past. Lyle is capable of letting go of negative experiences and focus on present matters that affect the future, which Neil couldn't do. |
| Appearance | His original outfit is the earth tone-red vest (with beige collar trim) and the light green T-shirt underneath with blue pants. His hair is a bit longer at the ends compared to his brother's as well as having slighter bigger irises. (Both their hair color is actually the same, just different lighting) | He has a different style of clothing, while his hair seems a bit shorter and curlier on the ends. His irises also seem to be a bit smaller as well as having narrower eyes, giving him a more serious appearance. |

Koji Minamoto and Koichi Kimura (Digimon Frontier)
Because of their parents' divorce, they were separated at a very young age. Their mother moved out with Kouchi and their grandmother, while Koji stayed with his father, who remarried and told Koji that his mother has died (never telling him about his twin brother).
![]() Koji |
![]() Kouchi |
|
|---|---|---|
| Personality | Starts off as the group loner and a kid who never had the chance to make friends, because he had to change schools constantly. He distances himself from others and refuses to let anyone get too close to him, because he believes that no matter how close two people can get, something will always pull them apart. For that reason, he stops trying to make friends to be "better prepared for it." He starts off cold and rude, but eventually softens up as he becomes closer to them. | He is caring and kind, especially to his mother. Koichi learned about Koji when his grandmother told him on her deathbed. He tried to run after Koji, who was on his way to the Digital World, but fell down a flight of stairs and ended up in a coma. |
| Appearance | Always has on a bandana with a much more 'sporty' style of clothing. | Often doesn't wear headgear, but can be seen with a baseball cap at some point. His clothing style is more casual compared to his brother's. |

Mion and Shion Sonozaki (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni)
During their first swap as children, Mion and Shion actually have switched identities as a result.
![]() Mion |
![]() Shion |
|
|---|---|---|
| Personality | Often acting vulgar, rough and like a tomboy, she also has a girlish hidden side. She was actually born second to the family, but due to the sister swapping at a young age, she was mistakenly taken as Mion (the oldest sister) and branded with the oni tattoo as a result. This caused her to take on the identity as the older sister Mion when she is really the youngest. Her occupation is working at the toy store. | The twin with a more feminine and gentle/mature personality who may get embarrased easily. However, she can be more vicious and sadistic, often seen carrying a taser, which makes her appear dangerous and even ruthless at times. She was actually the first born twin, which makes her the 'real' older sister Mion, but had to take on the identity of the younger sister, Shion. Her occupation is a waitress. |
| Appearance | Mion often has her hair up in a ponytail. | Shion's hair is often down with a yellow ribbon tied in the back. |
More to come!
